Amy Royal's Obituary
Amy Royal, 64, also known as Baxter Royal, passed away suddenly on February 6, 2026, at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware.
She was born on March 5, 1961, in Seaford, Delaware, to the late John W. Royal and Gertrude Royal. Amy was a graduate of Seaford High School and Delaware Technical Community College.
Amy dedicated much of her life to animal rescue, with a special love for cats. She was deeply involved in rescue, care, and adoption efforts and was a partner in the Sussex County Animal Association. Her compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment to animals in need touched countless lives—both human and feline.
She is survived by her sister, Roxanne Royal; her brother, Jack Royal and his wife Barbara; her niece, Dr. Erin Royal, Erin's husband Jake Kee, and their daughter, Emma; her cousins, Jeanine Adshead and Karen Skorobatch; as well as countless longtime friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Woodland Community Church Inc., 5123 Woodland Church Road, Seaford, DE 19973, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the funeral service at Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sussex County Animal Association/Whimsical Animal Rescue P. O. Box 1697 Seaford, DE 19973, in honor of Amy’s lifelong devotion to animal welfare.
