Betty Irene Marker's Obituary
Betty H. Marker, age 86, of Seaford, DE, passed away on November 12, 2018 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Betty was born in Lewes, DE; daughter of the late Emory and Ethel Messick.
Betty graduated from Seaford High School. She retired from Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in 1994 after 24 years of service. Betty loved spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She enjoyed visiting Lancaster, PA, spending Saturdays at the hair salon and chatting with friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She was known for a smile that would light up a room. Betty was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Preston S. Hope; her grandson, Buddy Marker; and her brother-in-law, Walter Leipold who always thought she was the sweetest person. She is survived by her husband, Roland E. Marker, Sr., with whom she spent 57 loving years. They were totally devoted to each other. She is also survived by two daughters: Debbie Pusey (Rick) of Seaford, DE and Shirley Henry of Laurel, DE; two stepsons: Roland "Sonny" E. Marker, Jr. of Fruitland, MD (Gina) and Charles "Butch" E. Marker of FL; her sister, Pat Leipold of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and her sister and brother in law, Pat and Mike Donnelly.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Watson-Yates Funeral Home & Crematorium, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE 19973, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services at Blades Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association of Delaware, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
