Betty S. James' Obituary
Betty S. James, age 91 of Laurel, DE, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home. She was born on September 4, 1932, at the family farm in Woodenhawk, Bridgeville, Delaware, daughter of the late Alfonso and Ethel Stuart.
Betty was the valedictorian of her class at Bridgeville High School. She was an executive legal secretary in Georgetown, DE and was the executive assistant at the State’s Attorney's office. Betty and her husband owned and operated Consumer’s Warehouse and National Supply for 30 years.
Betty traveled with a group of friends for many years across the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia. She enjoyed attending her grandsons’ football and lacrosse games. Betty was known as a great cook and baker. She was also a dog lover. Above all, Betty cherished time spent with those she held most dear. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be forever missed by those fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Bill James, in 1994. She is survived by her only child, Brent and his wife Michelle; and her grandsons: Brent II (Anya) and Beau (Melissa).
