Charles Wilbur Burlingame's Obituary
Charles Wilbur Burlingame, age 89 of Seaford, DE, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Life Care at Lofland Park. He was born in Milford, DE, on December 3, 1930, son of the late Laffeyette and Olla Lee (Moody) Burlingame.
Mr. Burlingame made his career as a pipefitter. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Seaford and the Whirlaways Square Dancers, and he enjoyed gardening and reading. Above all, Mr. Burlingame cherished time spent with those he held dear. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burlingame was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty (Parker) Burlingame. He is survived by his sons: Timothy L. Burlingame (Jane) of Laurel, DE and David A. Burlingame (Regina) of NC; his grandchildren: David Burlingame, Steve Burlingame, Andy Burlingame, Julie Mumpower, Timmy Burlingame, Gerald Strothers, and Candace Jo Lance; his great-grandchildren: Lucas and Logan Mumpower, Wyatt, Noah, Jaxon, Dawson, and Kaylee Burlingame, and Tiffany Lance; and his sister, Ruth Burlingame Georgiou of Florida.
A private graveside service was held at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Burlingame's memory to Grace Church, 805 Atlanta Road, Seaford, DE 19973, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
