Dale "Gunny" Ohlschwager's Obituary
Dale "Gunny" Ohlschwager, age 88, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was born in Seward, NE, on Tuesday, August 16, 1927 son of the late Leonard and Delia (Winter) Ohlschwager.
Mr. Ohlschwager proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War as a United States Marine. Following his war time he continued a career in the Marines for 24 years. He then worked for 20 years as a U.S. Capitol Hill Police Officer. Mr. Ohlschwager was a member of the VFW Post 4961 in Seaford, DE, where he was a former Senior Vice Commander.
Mr. Ohlschwager was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ohlschwager was preceded in death by his son, Dale Dean Ohlschwager; his daughter, Dana Padgett; and his dog, Penny. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Joyce Libby Ohlschwager, of Millsboro, DE; his two daughters: Sandra Libby and Victoria Gregoire, both of Lewes, DE; his step son, Gordon Libby, of Mitchellville, MD; his grandchildren: Katie Ohlschwager of WV, Ashley Fugere, Kent Gerard, of Milwaukee, WI and Gordon Spencer Libby IV, of Mitchellville, MD; his great grandson, Brian Fugere, of Milwaukee, WI; his sister, Adele Brhel, of Goehner, NE; his daughter in law, Tammy Ohlschwager, of Wichester VA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front & Kings Streets, Seaford, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow the Services at 1:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
