Dorothy Louise Owens' Obituary
Dorothy Louise Owens, age 80, of Galestown, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024. She was born on March 25, 1944, in Lewes, DE, to the late Grover and Dorothy (Kirker) Tuck.
A proud graduate of Seaford High School Class of 1962, Dorothy furthered her education at Beebe Nursing School, where she earned her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. She dedicated over 40 years to the nursing profession, serving in various roles. Her compassion for others and dedication to her patients left a lasting impact on those she cared for.
Dorothy was also a life member of the Ladies of the VFW, where she contributed her time and love for the community. Her generous spirit was evident in all aspects of her life, as she was known as "mom to everyone." She had a heart as big as her cooking, and there was no one she wouldn't help. Dorothy was always there for anyone in need, willing to offer anything she had to give. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was unwavering. Whether it was preparing a homemade meal, playing computer games with the grandkids, or simply lending an ear, Dorothy brought warmth, joy, and love wherever she went.
In 1971, Dorothy married Emmanuel Jackson Owens, with whom she shared 27 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in May 2000. Their love story was a testament to dedication and deep affection, and though Emmanuel is no longer with her, his memory remains a cherished part of her legacy.
Dorothy is survived by her children: son Grover Clay Owens (Andrea Hudson) and daughter Sally Ann Brumfield (Gerald); her brother, Jim Tuck (Karen); her beloved grandchildren: Cole Owens, Kelly Brumfield, Katie Brumfield, William Brumfield; and her great grandchildren: Riley, Wesley, and Johanna . She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of countless individuals. She was a woman who gave selflessly to her family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. Dorothy’s presence in the lives of those she loved will never be forgotten. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the life of a wonderful woman who made this world a better place simply by being in it. May she rest in peace, knowing her love and light will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
