Edward Allen Romer's Obituary
Edward A. Romer died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 17, 2023, at age 95. He was born in Washington, DC on October 9, 1927, son of the late Paul and Marie Romer of Washington, DC.
He attended Chamberlain Vocational School before entering the Marine Corp. in June 1945 and was on active duty until October 1946. Ed was married to his beloved wife, Maxine for 66 years before her passing in December 2019. They resided in Mitchellville, MD before relocating to Seaford, DE in 1997.
Ed loved his family and was a wonderful cook. He loved to bake and would make scrumptious desserts and breads, which he would share his family and friends. Extremely talented with his hands, he could fix anything. Ed was kindhearted and warm to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father and father-in-law, grand and great grandfather.
He is survived by his children, John Phillip Romer (Wanita) and Robin Marie Walsh (Joseph). His many grandchildren include Jason (Jaime), John (Amanda), Allen (Shelby), Paul (Katie), Jillian Wolf and Joseph E. Walsh, III. His great grandchildren include Jenna, Janelle, Adler, Charlotte, Kinsley, Kaden, and Amelia. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Anna Romer.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation and love to Kim Wooters for her dedication and care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE 19973, where friends may call beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow services at Galestown Cemetery, Galestown, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ed’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
