Emma Ann Wingate's Obituary
Emma Ann Wingate, age 89 of Seaford, DE, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Seaford Center Nursing Home in Seaford, DE. She was born on June 20, 1928 in Blades, DE, daughter of the late Percy and Hattie (Wheatley) Bowers.
Mrs. Wingate was a graduate of Seaford High School, Class of 1948. She worked as a seamstress, dedicating many years to the Blades Shirt Factory. Mrs. Wingate enjoyed knitting and crotcheting. Above all, she cherished time spent with her treasured family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wingate was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Wingate; her brother, Alton Bowers; and her sisters: Charlene Tubbs, Marguerite Whitlock, and Jane Phillips. She is survived by her nephews: Roger Tubbs of Seaford, DE, Fred Ellingsworth of Laurel, DE, Alan Tubbs of Clarksburg, NJ, Vernon Ellingsworth of Millsboro, DE, and Danny Phillips of VA; her nieces: Kathy Poff and Sandy Phillips, both of VA; and her lifelong friend, Eva Shockley of Laurel, DE.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 9th & Maple Streets, Laurel, DE. Casual attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Wingate's memory to Woodland United Methodist Church: 5123 Woodland Church Road; Seaford, DE 19973.
