Gerald F. McCabe's Obituary

Gerald F. McCabe, age 80 of Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on April 2, 1939 in Laurel, DE, son of the late Raymond F. and Dorothy (Willey) McCabe.
Jerry was a proud US Air Force Veteran, having honorably served four years actively and an additional year inactive. His love of country never faltered, and he remained a proud patriot throughout his life as a member of the Laurel American Legion Post 19. Jerry, along with his brother Jimmy, worked for the family business, McCabe's TV in Seaford for many years, before retiring in 1992. He was a talented artist, loved surf-fishing and hunting for Indian artifacts, going to auctions, and working on crossword puzzles. Above all, Jerry cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, James A. McCabe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janet L. McCabe; his daughters: Tammy L. McCabe and Susan A. McNatt (Russell); his grandsons: Brooks L. Hearne (Taylor) and Brandon L. Hearne (Madison); his great-grandchild, Beckett L. Hearne; and several cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a member of the Parsell Funeral Family, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jerry's memory to VITAS Healthcare, 30265 Commerce Drive, Suite 202, Millsboro, DE 19966.
