James V. Welsh's Obituary
James V. Welsh "Jim”, age 80, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at home. He was born on May 26, 1944 in Darby, PA, son of the late, Francis and Mary (Bray) Welsh.
Jim graduated from St. James High School in Ridley Park, PA, class of 1963. He then trained and apprenticed as a meat cutter where he became a specialist in his field. Jim worked for various grocery stores in his career including A&P in Philly, Thrift Way in Bear and Newark, DE, and finally at the Food Lion in Longneck, DE. In his spare time, you could find him gardening and taking pride in his yardwork, watching his beloved Eagles and Phillies, and cooking steaks to perfection on the grill. Jim had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Above all else, he enjoyed time with his family. Some of his most cherished memories were at the "Father-Son Camp Outs" he went on with his sons when they were young, going out to eat, especially the Texas Roadhouse with his wife, and any occasion where he got to spend time with his grandchildren. Jim was a kind, generous, and loving spirit who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Welsh in 2018 and his sister, Mary Kearney in 2003. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Welsh of Millsboro, DE; his sons: James Welsh (Lisa) of Lincoln University, Pa; David Welsh (Patti) of Prospect Park, PA, and Glenn Welsh of Houston, TX; his step children: Scott Baldwin (Jennifer) of Blacksburg, VA and Renee Kalokitis of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren: Nicholas, Lauren, David, and Caitlin Welsh, and Emma and Ava Baldwin; his great grandchild, Dominic; and his sister, Susan Hanson of Ridley Park, Pa; and his 3 nieces and 4 nephews that he dearly loved.
