Jeanette S. Allen's Obituary
Jeanette Sammons Allen, of Seaford, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2025, just shy of her 97th birthday.
Born on September 3, 1928, to Jeremiah and Mary Ann Sammons of Bridgeville, Jeanette enjoyed traveling and loved the beach, collecting shells, and fishing. She was an avid bowler. Her greatest loves were her family and God.
Jeanette was very active in her church, Bethel United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, where she served as the church historian—keeping meticulous records and photographs—and sang in the choir. She was also a dedicated Orioles fan and enjoyed watching basketball and golf.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 76 years, Calvin R. Allen; her parents; brothers Robert, Roland, Claudell, and John; and sisters Nellie, Ruth, Margaret, and Pauline.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Allen and Kyna Rowe (Greg); five grandchildren: William Ellis (Tiffany), April Callaway (Derik), Rayna McGill (Kevin), Mallory Read (Josh), and Brandon Rowe (Lauren); fourteen great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and five great-great-grandchildren, with three more on the way.
The family would like to thank VITAS Hospice Care nurses, with a special thank you to Tina and Claire for all of their love and support.
A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford, DE, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, and is open to all friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, 2381 Neal's School Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
