Karen Elmira Sullivan's Obituary
Karen Elmira Sullivan, age 84, of Felton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE. She was born on July 29, 1940, in Milford, DE, the daughter of the late Dorothea (Roe) and Lindale Coverdale.
Karen graduated from Milford High School, where she grew up working on the family farm. After high school, she worked for Delaware Motor Vehicle for two years before transitioning to a position at the Dover Air Force Base (DAFB), where she served as a secretary and later worked in civilian personnel for nearly 30 years.
Karen’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her love and devotion to them were evident in all she did, and she was especially passionate about sharing her love of reading with them. Her grandchildren will miss her terribly and cherish the memories she created with them.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Sullivan, and her son, James Richard Sullivan II.
Karen is survived by her son, Randy Sullivan (Connie); her beloved grandchildren, Emily Sullivan (Theo) and Joseph Sullivan (Calan); her siblings, Mary Lou Betts (Leroy) and Michael Coverdale (Cindy); as well as her nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Watson-Yates Funeral Home & Crematorium, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE 19973. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 513 3rd Street, Seaford, DE 19973.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory are suggested to Trinity Methodist Church, 63 Commerce Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
