Leroy R. Moran's Obituary
LeRoy M. Moran, age 84 of Seaford, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 18th 2017 at his home. He was born in Bethesda, MD on Tuesday, April 4th 1933, the son of the late Irving M. and Ada M. (Testerman) Moran.
Mr. Moran was a proud US Air Force Veteran, retiring after 21 years of committed service. He continued to work for 20 years at Bank of America following his service to our country. He also worked at Woodland National Golf Park after his second retirement. Mr. Moran was a Life Member of VFW Virgil Wilson Post #4962, Amvets, Seaford Post #1694 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #6 and Moose Lodge #1728, both in Seaford. In his spare time, Mr. Moran enjoyed fishing and playing golf. His most cherished moments, however, were those spent with his adored family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moran was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Moran, Frank Moran, and Joseph Moran; and his sisters: Sadie Miller and Mildred Thorpe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty J. (Garber) Moran; his sons: Kevin W. Moran and his wife, Carol of Hebron, MD, and Jeffrey A. Moran and his wife, Deborah, of Hurlock, MD; his grandchildren: Dylan B. Moran of Baltimore, MD, Jason A. Moran of Lewes, DE, Sarah McClain and her husband Peter, of Knoxville, TN, and Heather Torbert, her husband Todd of Ijamsville, MD; his great-grandchildren: Mason A. Torbert and Grace R. Torbert of Ijamsville, MD; his brother, James Moran of Las Cruces, NM; his sister Marian Toms of Sacramento, CA; and his loyal canine companion, Shelby.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. All arrangements are being handled by Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a division of the Parsell Funeral Family, Seaford, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Moran's memory to American Legion Post #6, 230 North Front Street, Seaford, DE 19973, Moose Lodge #1728, 22759 Bridgeville Highway, Seaford, DE 19973, or Compassionate Care Hospice, 248 East Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE 19713.
