Lois Marie Stevenson's Obituary

Lois Marie Marlar (Easter) Stevenson, age 79, of Seaford, DE, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 13, 1940 in Max Meadow, VA, daughter of the late Harvey Burton Marlar and Janie Louise (Hudson) Marlar.
Lois worked for DuPont in Virginia and in Seaford, DE for more than 27 dedicated years. Following her retirement, she worked as a door greeter at Walmart. Lois enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, embroidery, crossword puzzles, and playing cards. Many of her happiest days were spent playing cards and baking cookies with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, joining its ranks as soon as she was eligible. Lois was known for her well put-together outfits, including her matching shoes and purses. Above all, she cherished moments spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jonathan Stevenson, Sr.; her granddaughter, Sara Brown; and her sister, Leetha Mabe. She is survived by her children: Mary Jane Brown, Brenda Peterson (David), Jonathan Stevenson (Isabel), and Charles Stevenson (Lidia); her 12 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; her 5 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Elwood Marlar; her sister, Margaret McHone; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Lois' memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 22025 Atlanta Road, Seaford, DE 19973, or to a charity of your choice.
