Michael W. McCrea's Obituary
Michael Willis McCrea Sr., of Seaford, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Mike’s passing was expected due to an ongoing illness. He was surrounded by loved ones supporting him with great tenderness and care as he transitioned at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Michael was born in Salters, SC, to William Samual McCrea and Winona Ruth Godwin on February 18, 1952. He married the love of his life, Lynn (Dudley) McCrea, on March 9, 1969, in Washington, D.C. Michael was a proud, retired Air Force veteran. After his military service, he spent the second half of his career as the general manager of Mazo Lerch / US Foods. Upon his second retirement, never one to sit idle, Michael went back to being a master barber at Holt’s Barber Shop in Blades, DE, and building Harley-Davidsons. He loved his children, raising not only his own but also countless other youth who came into his life in need of kindness, guidance, and support. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was always ready to support them as his own.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lynn, as well as his parents and grandparents.
Michael is survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Ivison, Scheryl (Craig) McDavid, and Susan (Tim) Millman; his son, Michael W. McCrea Jr.; his daughter, Debra Lynn McCrea-Morris; the father of his grandchildren and friend, Jaye (Seiho) Morris; his granddaughter, Michaela (Kaela) Morris; his grandson, Paige Morris; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
If you knew Big Mike, you know how much he loved building Harley-Davidsons, history, and the news. He would spend hours in his garage building the Harleys he loved. He would always offer a warm, safe home or a meal at his table if you were in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many people he touched, loved, held, and cherished.
