Ronald Joseph Konopka's Obituary
Ronald Joseph Konopka, age 86, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at ExcelCare Hospice in Lewes on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Born in Manville, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Konopka. Ronald was raised in New Jersey and carried with him throughout his life the hard work and dedication that were instilled in him from a young age.
Ronald attended Rider College, where he pursued his education and began laying the foundation for a successful professional career.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Ronald shared a devoted and loving marriage with his wife, Janice Konopka. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. Their enduring partnership was a true testament to commitment and companionship, and they stood by each other through all of life’s joys and challenges.
Professionally, Ronald enjoyed a successful career as a Director of Purchasing in the IT software industry. Known for his integrity, sharp mind, and leadership abilities, he earned the respect of colleagues and peers throughout his career. He approached his work with dedication and professionalism, helping guide organizations through the evolving world of technology and business.
Outside of his career, Ronald’s greatest joy was his family. Time spent with them meant a great deal to him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh, often sharing stories that reflected his wit and warmth. He enjoyed cars, loved music, and was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings, faithfully cheering them on each season.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Konopka; his son, Rick Konopka; his daughter, Kim Steinberg; his grandson, David; his granddaughter, Lauren; and his brother, Bob. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 513 3rd Street, Seaford, DE 19973.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ronald’s memory to ExcelCare Hospice, 301 Ocean View Blvd, Lewes, DE 19958.
