Stanley Allen Hardesty Jr.'s Obituary
Stanley Allen Hardesty Jr., age 72 of Laurel, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his home. He was born in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, January 24, 1945, son of the late Stanley Allen, Sr. and Rose (Sweeney) Hardesty.
Mr. Hardesty was a proud US Navy Veteran. Following his military service, he continued to protect and serve his communities, both as a detective for the Washington, DC Police Department and as a 911 manager for the Seaford, DE Police Department, whose work ethic was unparalleled. Mr. Hardesty was a member of the American Legion and Odd Fellows. He enjoyed genaeology, fishing, horseshoes, and playing cards with his family. Above all he was a dedicated family man. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Mr. Hardesty will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Hardesty is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Ann (Tucker) Hardesty of Laurel, DE; his son, Benjamin A. Hardesty of Baltimore, MD; his daughter, Karen J. O'Quinn of Laurel, DE; his grandchildren: Heather N. Noftsinger of Laurel, DE, Kari A. Noftsinger of Seaford, DE, Brandon A. Hardesty of Sandston, VA, Joseph R. Noftsinger of Laurel, DE, Meagan Hardesty of Baltimore, MD, and Mason Hardesty of Baltimore, MD; and his great-grandchildren: Jayden Payton, Kamryn Payton, Angelia Johnson, Luke Dean, Elijah Millman, and Annalisse Coking.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE. Friends may call the previous evening, Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Watson-Yates Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 following the Funeral Service at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way; Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Hardesty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter: P.O. Box 625; Georgetown, DE 19947.
