Isabel Fleetwood's Obituary
Isabel Fleetwood, age 97, of Kimberling City, MO, formerly of Seaford, DE, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hollister, MO. She was born in Choptank, MD, on January 12, 1919, daughter of the late Bruce and Hattie (Carroll) Butler. After a marriage of 50 years, her husband, Henry C. Fleetwood, preceded her in death in 1991.
For over 12 years, Mrs. Fleetwood worked as a Classified Ad Manager for the Delaware State News and later for several years as a Head Secretary for the Dover High School's Principal. She had many fond memories of both places especially at the Delaware State News.
In her youth, Mrs. Fleetwood was an excellent athlete. Later in life, she took great pride in watching and cheering at her son and grandsons’ various sport activities. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she enjoyed the time she spent with her brothers, sister and their families as well as her son's family. Isabel and her brothers and sister were orphaned when they were very young and raised themselves during the peak of the depression. The support they gave each other during that time forged a strong bond that lasted their entire lives.
Mrs. Fleetwood is survived by her son, Dr. Scott C. Fleetwood and his wife, Patricia K., of Missouri; three grandsons: Eric Scott Fleetwood of California, Brian Charles Fleetwood and his wife, Sarah, of Texas and Matthew Curtis Fleetwood of Missouri; and a brother, Bruce Marden Butler of Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 East King Street, Seaford, DE 19973, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow the services at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford, DE.
