Louis “Papa Lou” Victor Roy, age 85 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 18, 1936, in Montgomery, AL, son of the late Victor and Lucille Roy. Read Obituary
When Mary introduced Louis to her group of naive girlfriends from Notre Dame High School almost sixty years ago, we knew that she was in for the ride of her lifetime. And indeed, Lou swept her off her feet. And even though she wasn’t from Tennessee, she was the “only 10 he could see.” Although Lou’s jobs took him away from the Maryland area, Lou was a gracious host no matter where they were. Together with his humor, and Mary’s welcoming hospitality, he nurtured a lifetime of friendship that is seldom found. We will miss him.
Heaven is even more filled with joy and laughter with Lou in it! How much laughter he left with all of us. And his kindness! Always a friend in need and a friend indeed! Mary and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss. Mary Carole Ducharme, Ormond Beach, Fl
Papa Lou will always be remembered in our house for his overwhelming love and embracing of my two 'chosen" grandchildren.They are both saddened by his death but happy that he is in heaven and not suffering anymore.
Having known Lou for more years than I will admit to, I can honestly say God broke the mold when He made Lou. He was a true friend, in good times and in bad, always there to share a joke, make you laugh and make your little corner of the world a little brighter. He will be greatly missed and I will continue to share Lou Roy stories until the time when I will hopefully be joining him. Love you, Lou, because of and sometimes in spite of yourself! Stef
How fortunate that we moved in next door many years ago to a wonderful couple-Mary & Lou. Though we had many differences in opinion, Alabama vs. Ohio State, Democrat vs. Republican...Lou's humor had a way of canceling all differenced and we became good friends. From his first comment to my wife " You are the only Ten I see" to his last--we shared many chuckles.
He will be sorely missed!
We lit a candle when it was time with a sunset! We miss you. ❤️
Lou was one of kind. I loved playing chess, Golf and cards and board games with him. He was a great story teller, many at Mary’s expense. He will be truly missed. It was great to hear several months ago that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. God Bless you Lou and your entire family.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our Brother, Louis V. Roy. We wish for him everlasting life and well-deserved peace as a member of the Chapter Eternal of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

We, here at Seychelles in Daytona Beach Shores have great memories of Lou. The late Dean Coffman and I shared many stories, jokes and lots of laughs with Lou and Mary. Lou will be greatly missed in this world. He made this world a better place. Dean and Lou are probably up there sharing jokes as we speak. Mary we are thinking of you. We met Louis and Mary 30 yrs ago in New Smyrna Beach. He was very proud of his family and his love for Mary and how he made his Mother's final yrs prominent..so happy we had the opportunity to visit with Lou, Mary and Joe in September.
